Which Fragrances Are Worth Keeping?
Give each object a reason, use a pause group and preserve records before changing a collection.

Deciding what to keep becomes easier when you stop asking every bottle to justify itself in the same way. A frequently worn perfume, an empty bottle kept for its design and a gift connected to a memory can all have a place. The question is whether that place is still meaningful and manageable for you.
Name the reason Give each item one primary reason: wear, memory, design, research focus or undecided. Add a second reason only if it helps. An item kept for memory does not need a fabricated wearing schedule, while a bottle kept for regular use deserves a look at whether you actually reach for it.
Keep condition and care information separate from preference. Disliking a scent does not establish that the product is damaged, and enjoying an old bottle does not establish its safety or quality. Follow the maker's guidance and seek product-specific advice about concerning changes rather than resolving them through sentimental value.
Use a pause group Place undecided items in an appropriate recorded storage location and give yourself a review date. Avoid moving them into a hot box or an unsuitable room just to clear a shelf. During the pause, note whether you missed a specific use, a visible object or only the idea of having a complete series.
An invented review sheet has four fields: current reason to keep, space required, what was missed during the pause, and next action. “Still undecided” is a valid next action. There is no requirement to make an irreversible decision because a decluttering rule says it should happen after a certain number of days.
Preserve the record before changing the collection If you decide to part with something, update the catalog and retain a non-sensitive reference image or note if the history matters. Do not assume that a collection decision supplies an accurate resale value or authenticates the item. Any transfer should describe the actual identity and condition honestly.
Check applicable local disposal advice and carrier requirements before disposing of or shipping fragrance. Do not improvise by pouring a liquid away or posting it as an unrestricted household item. You can first make the collection easier to manage through better records and a smaller active display. Curation is a continuing choice about attention and meaning. It does not need to erase every hesitation or turn each bottle into an investment argument.
